ABOUT THE PROJECT

When Bristol City signed Japanese player Yu Hirakawa, our brief was to deliver a content strategy that introduced him to the club’s fans but also leveraged his strong following in Japan. We wanted to produce something that felt unique, celebrated his origins, but was also achievable with a language barrier, as Yu spoke little English.

 

Working closely with his translator, we captured and edited a variety of content to engage supporters, ensuring Yu’s personality came through authentically. The hero asset was a bespoke motion-graphics animation that showed his journey from his early career through to his unveiling at Ashton Gate. The animation combined illustration, dynamic transitions, and sound design to create an announcement that felt fresh, with high energy, which resonated with both local fans and his international followers.

 

The reveal was a huge success as it drove engagement, attracted new followers, and showcased the club to a wider global audience.
